We are an occupational therapy-based martial arts program focused on teaching children of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. Prior martial experience is welcome but not necessary since we will train you in Shotokan Karate. Volunteering here will vastly improve your interpersonal skills and leadership skills. You can also earn an official Letter of Recommendation from our Director/Senior Occupational Therapists as well!
As a volunteer, you’ll be able to engage with children to make a positive impact on their life by helping them successfully perform karate in order to help boost not only their self-esteem, but to improve their motor coordination and muscle strength for better living. You will also help them improve their social skills and emotional regulation while maintaining their sense of discipline and respect toward others. As far as your time commitment goes, the minimum requirement for all volunteers is a 4-hour shift per week. The available shifts are:
